Magazine Wrapped Soap

magazine wrapped soap keeps your hands full of news
a phantom baby kick in the bathtub
reminds me of Asher in the womb
I was untouchable, and now
I'm a mother
my mother made it look easy
but easy's hard on the body in the 4th quarter
when your baby's still asking where her daddy is
and the only thing you've got to say is: everything but the kitchen sink
and the questions linger silently in each of our ears...

...and then there's the question behind the question
a double back flip off the double barreled diving board
look yourself in the mirror and say
the thing everyone wants to hear
You are loved
I am loved
I am love
every baby's birth right
to be completely loved and completely loveable
because you are

bottle me up

Is there an events page so I can keep my ear on what's coming up next?
flowers in a wine bottle
look better in your yard

"I like you like..."
I want you around like I need socks on my feet,
it just doesn't feel right skin so close to leather or rubber

if I open my eyes and you're no where around
I know you will be
again soon

Listen Sailor

Listen to the dishes in the sink
they whisper good tidings

Gift Box

What such gift can you give a man like this?
When heard say " I have no words..."
We scoffed as artists, poets, writers and lovers do,
Knowing there are infinite words to share

And yet
What such words can you say to a man like this?
Much time spent stringing and unstringing my instrument
While he plays on and on, keeping the rhythm with his breath

What such song can you sing to a man like this?
Who loves so eloquently, a balanced harmony
He peddles symphonies on the street for free

What such gift can you give a man like this?

what if

what if you chase me until you catch every one of my good moods
fall through a crack in the universe
spend some time with Asher in the womb

Yellow Carnation

I went to sleep thinking
of deserts and desserts, clouds and ocean calling
the only word in the poem I couldn't remember
was Lift or Raise
grasping to articulate the difference
wondering which contains ligatures
the dog eared violin strings page I find again
this time wondering, like the last time it was found
if I folded this page
or if he did
so I could find myself
this time reminded
of the last time
in this way we've become
a Hand to Mouth
Kiss

fortress

slowly built a castle of
turquoise bricks and daffodils
who kindly move over for roses in the summer time

you could scale the walls
peek over, spying through a telescope
because there are ladders reaching to the moon
on all sides

but there's a moat to cross and a great ocean
the water flow is sharp, and sparkling, swirling
also warm and inviting
reflecting yellow where the beginning of the universe lives

if you came closer

if you really looked closer

a little closer

look inside

you might notice

those alligators and archers atop the castle walls
are only reflections
in your mirror
